The recent NESTA discussion paper - 'Attacking the Recession' argued that the UK needs a new economic strategy that reflects the changing nature of the economy and that short-term measures to stimulate the economy should, wherever possible, promote long-term innovation for sustainable growth. The report also recognises the need to focus on preventing a short term rise in unemployment turning into longer term social and fiscal burdens and sets out a strategy which the UK should use to attack the recession not just respond to it.

Is UK economic policy right for Wales?

At a breakfast briefing event on Wednesday 28th January at 8.00am, report author and innovation expert Charlie Leadbeater, will be joined by Richard Parry-Jones, Chair of the Welsh Assembly Government Ministerial Advisory Group on the Economy , Assembly Member Huw Lewis and President of the Wales TUC, Vaughan Gething to discuss the report findings from a welsh perspective.  The event will be held at 8.00am at Gilby's in the Bay, The Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay and a full breakfast will be available.

Cyflwynwyd y ddadl ym mhapur trafod diwethaf NESTA - 'Ymosod ar y Dirwasgiad’ (Attacking The Recession), fod angen strategaeth economaidd newydd ar y DU sydd yn adlewyrchu natur gyfnewidiol yr economi, a lle bynnag yw’n bosibl, dylai mesurau byrdymor i hybu’r economi, hyrwyddo arloesi er mwyn cael twf cynaliadwy. Mae'r adroddiad yn cydnabod fod angen hefyd i ganolbwyntio ar rwystro'r cynnydd byrdymor mewn diweithdra rhag troi mewn i feichiau cymdeithasol ac ariannol hirach eu hoedl ac mae’n gosod strategaeth dylai’r DU ei ddefnyddio er mwyn ymosod ar y dirwasgiad yn hytrach nac ymateb iddo’n unig.

Ai polisi’r DU yw’r un iawn i Gymru?

Bydd Cadeirydd Grŵp Ymgynghorol Gweinidogaethol Llywodraeth Cynulliad Cymru ar yr Economi, Richard Parry Jones yn ymuno ag awdur yr adroddiad ac arbenigwr ar arloesi, Charlie Leadbetter, yr Aelod Cynulliad, Huw Lewis a Llywydd Cyngres yr Undebau Llafur, Vaughan Gething, ar gyfer brecwast briffio a gynhelir ar Ddydd Mercher, Ionawr 28, am 8.00am, i drafod canfyddiadau'r adroddiad o bersbectif Cymreig.
